The Railway Children: 5 activities for exploring the story with KS2

Railway Children activities.png

In this blog series we have been looking at classroom activities that compliment our Story Explorer World Book Day 2020 selection. So far we have looked at The Rainbow Fish, The Tiny Seed, Stick Man, Fantastic Mr Fox, Matilda and Fortunately, the Milk. This week we are focusing on a classic tale that follows three brave children on their childhood adventures!

The Railway Children by Edith Nesbit

Who is it for?

A classic tale for KS2 children.

Why do we love this book?

The Railway Children has been loved by readers for more than 100 years and it’s easy to see why. The three children at the centre of the story endear themselves to everyone they meet, including those who pick up the book. They exemplify childhood adventure, taking on one brave quest after another.

With plenty of themes and issues to choose from, the story provides relevant learning points across the curriculum.

Check out how we can help your school celebrate World Book Day 2020 by heading over to our Book Week page, or for more classroom activities take a look at our teacher resource blogs.
