Two Staff Directors for Pantomimes
(Must be able to learn and teach simple choreography)
Our vision and mission
Every child’s imagination should be inspired by the arts. Our mission is to use the skills of the professional theatre to provide highly creative learning experiences to children which they will remember for ever.
We value creativity, efficiency, fairness (including the Living Wage) and ongoing relationships between our performers, the company and our customer schools.
This year we are producing multiple casts for 5 pantomimes which will be visiting primary schools and are recruiting for two staff directors to rehearse additional cast members into pantomimes in select weeks between Wednesday 30th October and Friday 29th November. This will be on a Monday to Saturday basis at a London rehearsal venue. We will teach the staff director(s) the show(s) on dates to be mutually agreed in September/October.
The shows are written by Andrew Emerson and Alex Silverman, and have been directed by one of Ryan McBryde, Abi Rosser and Owen Lewis. They are performed by a cast of two professional musical theatre actors who will be performing in schools between mid-November and January.
The shows are performed in traverse by one male and one female actor. The rehearsal process for each actor is 3 days long and there are between 2 and 3 pairs of actors in the room each day (who will all be on their first, second or third day respectively).
The pay for the work is £100 per day, payable in weekly instalments for work done the previous week. We are currently budgeting for between £1,500 and £3,000 depending on the agreed earning days and schedule.
The staff director(s) will need to teach both blocking and choreography (this is simple!) but no music, as this will be done by our MD. The role requires attention to detail whilst working at speed as the rehearsal process for each actor is short. The staff director should be committed to creating the best possible performance with each actor. The work will be fun but also fast paced for both performers and the director.
Interviews will be held in London in the week beginning Monday 9th September 2019.
Here are some songs from the shows, sung here by Simon Lipkin (Aladdin) and Jess Robinson and Gabriel Vick (Cinderella) and Natalie Day (Dick Whittington), to give you a sense of the pieces.
