Bicycle Boy - Safety and Safeguarding
DBS checks
Four team members will visit your school. All carry recent Enhanced DBS checks and photo ID.
Covid safety
The touring team includes a Covid safety officer who will monitor any changes to guidelines and the health and well-being of our company.
Like most schools we have a programme of twice per week lateral flow testing.
Bicycle Boy Ltd has worked with a health and safety consultancy and two different councils to ensure everything is as safe as possible. The resultant risks and mitigations are all contained within the shows risk assessment which can be downloaded below. Protective measures include:
being outside
seating our audience in bubble groups, with 2 metres between groups
seating our audience 3 metres from the performers
singing a hand-washing song - when hand sanitising is required
disinfecting the bicycles between use by different children (or teachers!)
ensuring audience participation in the show does not involve any contact between performers and audience

“Fans of Helen Eastman’s work… will already appreciate the fourth-wall
dissolving antics that constitute such an appropriate introduction to the theatre
experience for younger audiences, and all is present and correct here”
“[The cast] tear up the songs and banter with their young audience with warmth”
