Poetry and Poppies Workshops:
Stories from World War One
Discover the First World War from an interactive, drama-based perspective
Part history, part literature and part drama, our Poetry and Poppies workshops use theatrical techniques to explore the people and stories of the Great War. Led by a professional actor-facilitator, the children work together to create scenes that imaginatively weave poetry, interviews with soldiers, and personal accounts from people who lived through this defining time.
Workshop options include individual class-by-class sessions, or our full day workshop which concludes with a performance by the children presenting a chronological exploration of the war.

Poetry and Poppies Today: Workshops + children’s performance
Class-by-class sessions led by a professional actor-facilitator and focusing on a different topic of the war.
At the end of the day, all classes who have taken part come together to perform to each other, with the final performance presenting a chronological exploration of the war.
Suitable for Reception to Y6.

‘We thought the sessions were extremely engaging and so interactive for the children. It is clear to see they absolutely loved it and they have all taken away key information about the war. I will certainly be looking to book this again.‘

‘The facilitator was really good with all of our pupils and encouraged them all to get involved. The sessions were pitched well for each age range and helped us to mark Remembrance Day in school. Would highly recommend.‘
