Composer Call-Out

Composer Call-Out
The Great Race: Chinese Zodiac Workshop

West End in Schools are looking for a composer to create a 2 minute piece of music to be used in our dance workshop for primary schools, based on the origin story of the Chinese Zodiac: The Great Race. As well as composing the music you will need to be able to deliver the piece as a high-quality mp3, ready for use by us and during the workshop.

We’re looking for a composer whose work is inspired by contemporary and traditional Chinese music. The music will need to accompany and support the pre-existing choreography for the workshop. We will provide a video of the existing choreography so you can compose to picture.

The workshop itself is designed to introduce children from Reception to Year 6 to storytelling through movement, to develop cultural understanding, and to explore the myth behind the Chinese zodiac. It is most popular in schools around the time of Chinese New Year. You can read more about the workshop here.

The fee is a buyout of £675, and we imagine this will be around 2.5 days work.
