Exploring Shakespeare in Primary Schools INSET

How do you teach Shakespeare to primary school children? Our approach is all about getting the children excited about the stories, and bringing that narrative to life - the plays were written to be performed after all!

The ‘Exploring Shakespeare in Primary Schools’ INSET will equip teachers with the confidence, skills and drama techniques to investigate Shakespeare plays with children from Reception through to Year Six. This can be a full day or two hour twilight INSET course.

Course elements

  • Practical examples of how to approach the text and story

  • Drama games and methods to engage children and get them involved

  • Techniques to aid storytelling in performance

  • Exercises to create characters

  • Methods to aid teachers to include the whole class, playing a main part between many children

The course can be based on a text of your choice (we suggest A Midsummer Night's Dream as a good starting point) please contact us to discuss your requirements.
