Step into the Ramayana story through drama and imaginative play
In our brand new Diwali drama workshop, children vividly imagine, create and step into the world of the Ramayana story using techniques drawn from drama and professional theatre.
From making the sounds and shapes of the forest, to lighting the lamps that guide Rama and Sita home, children use their imaginations to physically retell the epic Hindu tale, improving both their cultural understanding and confidence in creative expression.
Created by Sita Thomas, who also created our popular Diwali dance workshop, the class-by-class sessions explore the key dramatic moments, plot and characters of the story which has been shared during Diwali celebrations for centuries.
Led by a professional actor-facilitator, each session builds towards a sharing moment, where children weave their work together to create a short retelling of the story. Free accompanying teacher resources are also available to download.
This year, Diwali is celebrated 14 - 18 November and our workshops are available throughout the autumn term.
