Christmas Dance Workshops: Aladdin or Scrooge

The energetic alternative to pantomime

Aladdin and Scrooge 1783.jpg

Celebrate Christmas in an active way this year by exploring a traditional tale from the inside.

Choose between the classic pantomime story of Aladdin, and Dickens’ A Christmas Carol.

The children will use their imaginations to gain a new understanding of the story and its characters, with plenty of Christmas cheer and pantomime fun thrown in. Create Ebenezer Scrooge and the Ghosts of Christmas past, present and future, or dance with the genie of the lamp and fly with the magic carpet!

Our choreographer will begin the visit with a short assembly creating a link between in the children's minds between narrative and dance, and will then work class by class for the rest of our visit.

The children will develop their individual dance skills and experience working together as a large team. Children will develop, select and refine a range of motifs in response to the music and put them together as a performance.

With a mix of festive tunes and perhaps a dash of ‘Bah Humbug!’ this is a both Christmas treat to remember and a fun and exciting way to engage with a traditional tale.
