Creative CPD for Primary Schools

Upcoming CPD Masterclasses:

Wednesday 30th January 2019:
Exploring Children’s Books Through Dance

Aims of the session:

Storytelling through dance can be a fantastic way of sparking children’s imaginations, bringing fictional lands and inventive characters to life.

‘Exploring Children’s Books Through Dance’ is a hands-on session equipping teachers with a toolkit of dance techniques. Learn methods for developing perspective on character and setting, as well as physical storytelling, that can be used with primary school children from Reception to Year Six.

The Masterclass is free but we do require you to book a place, which you can do here.

We will be announcing more CPD Masterclasses soon to take place in the Spring and Summer terms. Keep up to-date on our social media or through our monthly newsletter.

Structure:

The Masterclass, led by a creative professional, will be a practical exploration of the topic, equipping you with a variety of activities for approaching the subject with 4-11 year olds. Following this there will be a Q&A and discussion. The evening has plenty of opportunities to network with other teachers and our creative team.

Outcomes:

Attendees will come away with:

  • A set of tools for approaching creative topics with primary school children

  • Confidence in leading creative activities

  • Knowledge of how to use performing arts activities as a stimulus for cross-curricular activity (such as PE or creative writing)

  • A resource pack containing handy notes about what was covered in the Masterclass

  • A certificate of completion

This masterclass was so inspiring. I loved all the tips and tricks provided to help engage students of all ages. I will definitely incorporate these techniques in my teaching going forward.

I loved the fact that we hardly stood still for the whole 2 hours and it really brought me out of my shell and got me interacting with text in a whole new way! This will 100% affect my teaching practice - I took away so many ideas that will work well in lots of different classes, not just English!
