Celebrating Roald Dahl - Teacher Resources

From Oompa-Loompas to Snozzcumbers the invented language of Roald Dahl (Gobblefunk) demonstrates the fun that can be had by playing around with words and letting language loose!

Our workshops help primary-age children to explore Roald Dahl's magnificent work in a suitably playful way. They are always phizz-whizzingly popular for Roald Dahl Day and World Book Day.

Children in EYFS, KS1 and KS2 love to explore Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, The Enormous Crocodile and the BFG through dance workshops.

This year we've added some Roald Dahl drama workshops into the mix too; The Twits, The Magic Finger, Fantastic Mr Fox and George's Marvellous Medicine!

We thought we'd give you some suggested teacher resources for the all-time classic, The BFG. 

Happy Roald Dahl Day!

·       Create some new giants to join the horrible crew that Sophie and the BFG have to deal with in the story

·       The early part of the book refers a lot to dreams and nightmares.  Draw up a list of dreams and nightmares that children can remember having.

·       Write a newspaper report of the campaign to capture the fearsome giants

·       Create some imaginary recipes for a giant’s cook book – delicious recipes for human beans and the like.

·       Write a dictionary for the BFG’s words explaining what he actually means by some of the unusual words he uses.
