We're thrilled to launch our new primary school INSET days backstage in three stunning locations - The Palladium and Manchester Palace are two of the most iconic theatres in the country, and Her Majesty's has been home to Phantom of the Opera since it opened in 1986.

We offer two different INSET day courses this term, one in London, and one in both Manchester and London.

Teachers will leave each day armed with a range of new techniques and activities which will enrich your practice, support raising attainment and inspire you to reconsider the links between your favourite art forms and your teaching.

The courses are:

Becoming Creative: Practical Classroom Approaches

London Palladium - Thursday 17 October

  • An illustration of how to introduce performing arts into the classroom

  • Practical examples of drama exercises that encouraging learning in all areas of the curriculum

  • Methods of accessing literature through drama

  • Using music and other stimuli to encourage creative writing

  • Practical ways to engage students in expressing their thoughts and ideas through non verbal communication

Using Dance to Explore Children's Literature

London - Her Majesty's Theatre, Haymarket - Friday 8 November

Manchester Palace Theatre - Thursday 14 November

The active nature of a dancers' involvement with story telling is particularly transferrable to the classroom, and is especially engaging for those who struggle with more traditional literacy lessons.

The INSET introduces a toolkit which will give you additional skills and confidence to investigate stories and characters in a new way, and will be an expansion on the skills and methodology that our popular Bringing Books to Life and Poetry in Motion workshops were built on.

Because we know how important it is for you to get the most out of your day out of school we will provide you with an inspiring and revitalising day which will include:

  • Q&A opportunities

  • Resources to take away

  • A certificate of attendance for your CPD file

  • A hot lunch provided in a local pub

  • Tea and coffee during the day!
